Description
The flow metre is a portable, easy-to-install measuring system that is used as part of a control measurement or to quickly figure out the flow in a pipeline. The transit time difference method is how the flow metre works. The flow metre is easy to understand in terms of how it measures. It takes less time to measure a pipe at an angle with the flow than straight up against the flow.
The longer it takes to go against the current, and the faster you go with it, the stronger it gets. So, the speed of the river has a direct effect on the difference in time between going with the flow and going against it. This effect is used by the flow metre to measure flow speed and flow. Electro-acoustic transducers send and receive short ultrasonic pulses through the fluid in the pipe. This is called the Pizo effect.
The transducers are spaced apart along the length of the measuring pipe on both sides. The sensors that don't damage the pipe are put on it and held in place with something like a cable tie. The flow rate is shown on the screen in a short time. The flow metre can be used to measure the flow in pipes made of metal, plastic, or rubber.
Liquids that can be measured include acetate, acetone, alcohol, ammonia, benzene, butyrate, chloroform, ethanol, ethyl alcohol, ethyl ether, ethylene glycol, freon R-12, gasoline, glycerin, glycol, isobutanol, isobutane, isopentane, kerosene, linseed oil, methanol, 1-propanol, coolant, lubricating oil, silicone oil, transformer oil, trichlorethylene, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, turpentine, distilled water, and salt water.
